About a year ago I read in a Westways magazine that there is an annual Folk Festival in Agoura. I thought that it sounded so fun, but didn't think Courtney was old enough to appreciate it at that point. I talked about it with my mom and we agreed that the following year we should all go to it together. Somehow this led into my mom discovering the Sleepy Man Banjo Boys. She wanted their cd, so I bought it for her when it released last year. I had borrowed it from my mom and put it on my computer because I noticed that Courtney liked the banjo instrument on her music table. Little did I know what I was starting when I started playing this cd for her. In the past few months she has become hooked on it and is constantly asking for 'bango moogick' (translation: banjo music). I thought it was so cute, but I have to admit day after day of listening to the same cd over and over again does get a bit tiring. Her dad is working on expanding her horizons and she has since learned to say 'jazz' as well. So back to the Folk festival...I checked out when it was and put it on my calendar. Mom and I bought our tickets and on May 20th we all went to the Folk Festival. Again I thought Courtney would be on the edge of her seat and while she did seem to enjoy it, it was not the enthralled reaction I had envisioned. Apparently, I expect a bit too much. We all had a good time though listening to various groups jamming and hearing a couple different groups on stage. Unfortunately it was very hot and we weren't able to stay more than a few hours without one of us melting down ;).
